Welcome to our informational website about the physics of ski jumping. It was created by Amanda, Caroline, and Emily, whose surnames will not be revealed in the interest of Internet safety. To begin your educational journey, please enjoy this short video of a few ski jumpers competing at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. The basics of ski jumping are very simple. Skiers start at the starting gate, travel down a hill of regulated length, and then they jump off of the end of the ramp and try to cover as much distance as they can before the moment when their skis touch the ground again.
Make sure to keep an eye out for the ski jumping events, and how the skiers use physics to improve their technique, in the next Winter Olympics in 2014!
